ProPak Vietnam 2017 Concluded on a High Note, Reflecting the Vietnamese Packaging Industry

The comprehensive event successfully attracted 407 exhibitors from 28 countries and regions, 11 international group pavilions and 7,972 trade visitors

Ho Chi Minh City, 30 March 2017 – ProPak Vietnam 2017, the Vietnam and Indochina’s premier trade event for food, drink and pharmaceutical processing and packaging industries drew to a close on a positive note on 23 March 2017 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), further solidifying its position as the event of choice for the processing and packaging sectors in Vietnam and well beyond.

Throngs of industry visitors scoured ProPak Vietnam 2017 with intentions to stay abreast of the cutting-edge technologies and innovative solutions on offer, forge new business partnerships as well as strengthen their existing networks. The show recorded an impressive attendance of 7,972 trade visitors from 29 countries and regions - a healthy increase of 9.4 per cent from the previous edition. In these, there were a total of 301 group delegations from major local FMCG, food and drink companies such as Nestle Vietnam, Orion Vina, Samiguel Pure Foods, Suntory Pepsico Vietnam, Sapporo Vietnam, Vissan, Trung Nguyen Coffee, and more. The event also saw huge participation from all segments of the pharmaceutical/ chemical establishments - Bio Pharmachemie, Boston Vietnam Pharma, Imexpharm, Kimberly-Clark Vietnam, Ladophar, Omron Vietnam, OPC Pharma, OPV Pharma, Rudoft Lietz, Vidipha, for instance.

Visitors came not only from Vietnam but also a myriad of neighboring countries such as Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand; not to mention some countries and regions afar like Australia, Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, United Arab Emirates and United States. Visitors had countless opportunities to partake in bustling business activities across 8,800 square meters of exhibition space – a strong testament to ProPak Vietnam’s growing brand quality and international reach.

Continuous Support from International Leading Industry Players 

The 12th edition has once again proven itself as the largest annual trade show of its kind in Vietnam, housing a footfall of 407 exhibitors from 28 countries and regions, showcasing a wide spectrum of top-notch products and services catering to the country’s ever growing food, drink and pharmaceutical sectors. 11 international group pavilions from China, Denmark, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand were also onboard, where Denmark pavilion (led by Dansk Industri) and India pavilion (led by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India - ASSOCHAM) were the two first-time entrants. Exhibitor satisfaction with the quality of the show was remarkably high, as the event set the stage for exhibitors to network with key decision-makers, grow their client base and build strategic alliances. 

Mr. Hans-Juergen Wichmann – General Manager, Rieckermann Vietnam expressed his vigorous support for the event: “ProPak Vietnam has always been a special gateway for us to introduce our complete solutions catering to all segments of different industries. Also upbeat about the show was Mr. Alexander Grimm – Head of VSS F&B ASEAN, Siemens Pte Ltd. (Germany Pavilion). “Siemens has decades of experience in the food and beverage industry, providing concepts for F&B producers to modernize their manufacturing operations. This is our first time attending ProPak Vietnam with the intention of tapping into the Vietnam's emerging market. ProPak Vietnam is a very good base for us as we got to meet, network and forge relationships with many potential customers, who seemed very excited about the new business opportunities with Siemens! We will come back next year for sure!”, he said.

Echoing the same sentiments, Ms. Hoang Thi Thu Dung – Sales Manager/ Hanoi Representative Office, Woojin Plaimm shared: “Our company is South Korea’s No. 1 plastic injection molding machine manufacturer. We have entered the Vietnamese market for almost 7 years and are strongly confided by the customers. This is our 4th time at ProPak Vietnam. I think the exhibition is great and worth attending since we have chances to connect with a great number of potential customers during the show. The Organizer Board supported us very well too! Of course, we will come back next year.”

Impressed visitors to ProPak Vietnam 2017

“This is our third time at ProPak Vietnam. This edition is the biggest yet as more and more manufacturers were present and there were many new equipment and technology on display that are relevant to our business sector. In my opinion, ProPak Vietnam is an eye-opening show which is very educational – we were able to witness new trends first hand and see major brands under one roof,” remarked Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung - Senior Supervisor, Sapporo Vietnam.

Mr. Ngo Kim Thanh - Head of Supply Chain Department, Anh Hong Food said: “My colleague and I have visited ProPak Vietnam many times; however, this is the biggest edition that I have ever attended. I was impressed with a vast mixture of both local and international exhibitors, along with the presence of many new-comers. The live demo technologies at the exhibitors’ booths were also interesting as we were able to not only witness the latest equipment on action, but also get hands-on experience and discuss with the experts. Definitely come back next year!”

Mr. Ngo Thanh Phong - Supervisor Food Production, Material & Technology, Ajinomoto Vietnam added: “In general, the exhibition was very well organized. ProPak Vietnam this year was bigger and greater than ever before in terms of exhibit space as well as a strong line up of exhibitors. An intensive range of machineries was on display which goes in line with our business development strategies in the coming time. We look forward to coming back to ProPak Vietnam next year, bringing more and more of my team members.”

An ultimate platform for business networking and knowledge sharing

Not merely a product showcase, the three-day trade event was also packed with concurrent educational programs, gathering more than 200 delegates and industry experts, where delegates were able to learn, network and get immersed in industry insights and topical debates, as well as facilitated business and information exchange.

The “Improving the Quality of Rice and Rice Products” conference organized by the Vietnam Association of Food Science and Technology (VAFoST) brought to light new development surrounding the rice processing industry in Vietnam, with the main focus on rice quality control systems, emerging trends and techniques in producing high quality rice-based products. The conference noted the prominent presence of Professor Luu Duan, the only ordained international fellow of IAFoST in Vietnam, Prof. Dr. Rindit Pambayun, President of Indonesian Food Technologist Association (IAFT), Mrs. Ly Thi Kim Chau, Head of R&D Department - VIFON Js. Co., to name just a few.

This year, Lean Six Sigma Network was also onboard with a seminar entitled “Water Quality and Management for Food Processing - A Case Study on Process Water for Beer Brewing”, converging a strong lineup of renowned industry speakers - Dr. Nguyen Huu Thien, Former General Director, Directorate for Standards Metrology and Quality (Ministry of Science and Technology); Dr. Nguyen Nhu Dung, Center for Food Technology and Technique Development (FOODTECH); and more.
